When you pray, go into your room, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is in the secret place; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly – Matthew 6:6
The greatest example we see of a dedicated and powerful life of prayer is in the life of Jesus. In Luke 11 just before He reveals the Lord’s prayer, one of His disciples approaches Him and asks, “Lord, teach us to pray, as John also taught his disciples.” In the parallel account in the Gospel of Matthew, before giving the Lord’s prayer, Jesus instructs His disciples that they (and of course, us as well) should first enter the secret place.
The Secret Place is a place of intimacy where we pour out our love, worship and prayers to our Father. Prayer is one of the most important elements and weapons that Christians have, something they should be doing on a continual, daily basis. Sadly, it is probably the most attacked areas of our Christian life. Be strong and courageous. Determine and discipline yourself to get into that Secret Place and prayer to the Father. For it is here, in the quiet place of intimacy, that you will grow and be empowered for your call and destiny.
